for expats

I know from personal experience what’s entailed in emigrating and working and living abroad. It all sounds great and adventurous, and often that is exactly what it is.

But it can also bring about tension and pressure for both the expat and the partner who came along.

As a Senior Practitioner Coach I specialize in coaching ‘via the screen’. In other words, no matter where you are, no matter what the time difference is, you can get support from a professional coach who can relate.

All you need is an appointment, a connection via FaceTime or Skype, and the ability to express yourself in English or Dutch.

What to do if you absolutely love your life abroad but your job will end due to reorganization and shrinking budgets? That in itself is a tough experience and for expats it means some difficult decisions will have to be made on top of the usual load. Perhaps you want to stay and consequently you face some great challenges. You may have to return and not have the faintest idea how to move forward with your life.
I help (former) expats gain new perspective using the Odin Development Compass (ODC). Having been confronted by the question ‘Now what?’ myself, I can help you find your own answer.

‘Koen helped me gain perspective by discovering myself.
For three years I worked in a rural hospital in Tanzania with an amount of drive which was unprecedented for me. After returning to the Netherlands I was unable to recover that amount of drive. I went searching for what I wanted to be or become, tried dozens of things but gradually got more frustrated at the lack of the ‘aha’ moment, the ‘this is what I want, this is who I am’.

Someone suggested I should go talk with Koen. In Koen I met recognition, acceptance and trust combined with a positive kind of wonder which immediately lead to depth. Shortly afterwards I filled in the recommended Odin Development Compass and I received a first measurement of my strengths and shadows practically immediately. First, Koen guided me to understand the measurement and then I gained more and more insight into myself during five coaching sessions.

Even though in a practical way I did not make any radical changes, the difference between ‘before and after Koen’ can hardly be exaggerated. Thanks to his attentive and dedicated guidance I suddenly have this big amount of insight into what drives me, why I act the way I do and - perhaps most importantly - a still increasing acceptance and embracing of who I truly am. This enables me to choose what I spend my energy on in a more effective way, approach others in an authentic and (therefor) confident way and generally feel I am on a significant path.

I would wish a conversation with Koen for everybody. Sometimes you don’t realize which doors have been closed until you open them.’
